Approved grantee from Black Thrive's Employment projects

The aim of the project is to support black people with long-term conditions to participate in weekly sewing classes. These people may be unemployed, have challenges with their mental health and may have a lack of opportunities, which they are struggling with. They will be taught the fundamentals of how to thread a sewing machine, use it correctly, run through health and safety of the machine, and the fun part is that I will teach them how to create their own accessories from their new sewing skill.

Benefits of online lessons With Unique ID

Limited amount of BRAND NEW sewing machines available. First come first served basis.

We have BRAND NEW SEWING MACHINES available. You will be able to borrow it for the duration of the course to practise on it in your own time. Are we not the best!

Meet your sewing tutor and mentor

PROFESSIONAL DESIGNER AND SEWING TUTOR

Ms. Unique

My name is Vicky Quadri also known as Ms. Unique.

I’m a professional Fashion Designer and Sewing tutor with over 10 years' worth of experience. I love bringing creative ideas and projects to life. Designing and sewing have been a massive part of my life ever since raiding my mum's wardrobes to play dress-up from a young age, to designing for fashion brands throughout my career, to designing my wedding dress, and setting up my first sewing club back in 2019 to keep me busy throughout my maternity leave (as if I already didn't have enough on my plate with a new baby on my hands). I love anything creative and I have always wanted to give back to my community so I'm here to inspire others to boss-up and learn a new skill they may have always wanted to learn and to create their own market-place.

Skills

In addition to designing and sewing, I love to mentor and guide up-and-coming designers along their journey. I will be hosting more projects to encourage others to be more confident in the fashion industry so keep your eyes open for further projects throughout the year. Having a positive-mental-attitude is my poison and whenever doesn't make me happy, flourish, smile, grow or boss up, then I'm not interested in. I'm a big believer that putting the work in, gets you massive results so I intend to work hard to achieve my own goals and dreams and I encourage you all to do the same.
